NVQ qualifications offer you the chance to use interesting, relevant, and practical ways to engage learning whilst studying for a nationally recognised qualification.
NVQ qualifications are delivered entirely in the workplace, at a time that is convenient to you. Taught by friendly and professional trainers and assessors who will utilise the course hours and visits to support and encourage active participation.
Who will the course suit? This course will suit hard-working, well-motivated individuals with an interest in becoming a chef or working in other roles in the hospitality industry. The course deals with both food service and food preparation and covers a broadbase of work.
What are the entry requirements?
To do any Level 2 course you should have:
• D-E’s in GCSEs, ideally including English and Maths
• Or an equivalent such as NVQ 1
• However, adults do not always need these qualifications, just enough skills to deal with the
course.
What will I study?
• You will study a range of modules on the course including:
• Soups; Sauces; Meat & Poultry; Fish; Pastry; Vegetables; Stores Duties; Customer Care;
Hygiene; Health & Safety; Serving in the Bar; Styles of serving in the Restaurant; Wine; Food
and much more

• Submit sign up paperwork
• Ready to start in 3 weeks
Working out an assessment plan
• What are the units covered
• Where you will be assessed e.g. restaurant etc
• When - to ensure a range of shifts are covered e.g. morning rush, lunch rush etc, team
meetings
• What kind of evidence are we looking at
• Who will be assessing you
Collating evidence & working on your logbook
• Discuss types of evidence suitable for each unit
• Record each assessment and evidence given
• Assessments happen twice a month
