Assessment and Certification
1. Who is the Level 3 Education & Training (AET) course for? This is the "gold standard" entry-level qualification for anyone wanting to teach in the post-16 sector. It is perfect for subject-matter experts (like Chefs, Managers, or Consultants) who want to become accredited trainers and deliver regulated qualifications.
2. Is this the same as the old PTLLS course? Yes. The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) replaced the old Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) qualification. It is updated to reflect modern teaching standards and is fully recognised by awarding bodies.
3. Do I need to have a teaching placement to take this course? No. One of the best things about the AET is that it does not require you to be currently working as a teacher. It is designed to give you the skills and the qualification you need to start teaching.
4. What can I teach once I have this qualification? This qualification allows you to teach any subject in which you are technically competent (usually holding a qualification one level higher than what you are teaching). For example, if you hold Level 4 Food Safety and the Level 3 AET, you are qualified to teach Food Safety levels 1 through 3.
5. How is the "Micro-Teach" session conducted? The micro-teach is a 15-minute practical session where you practice your teaching skills.
-
Virtual Learning: You will deliver your session via a live video link to your tutor and peers.
-
Classroom: You will deliver the session in person at our training center. We provide full support to ensure you feel confident and prepared for this session.
6. Is the certificate recognized by Highfield? Absolutely. This is a Highfield Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF). It is a regulated, nationally recognized qualification that allows you to register as a trainer with Highfield and other major awarding organizations.
7. Can I take this course if I am based outside the UK? Yes. Our virtual learning platform is ideal for international students. If you are located outside the UK/EU, please contact theteam@hygienesue.co.uk for VAT-exempt pricing and to discuss time zone arrangements for your live sessions.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Who is the Level 3 Delivering Training course for? This qualification is ideal for individuals who are already subject-matter experts (such as Chefs or Managers) and now want to learn how to teach those subjects to others. It is the perfect entry-level course for those starting a career in training or those responsible for staff inductions and "toolbox talks" in the workplace.
2. Is this the same as the "Education & Training" (AET) course? The Delivering Training course is a shorter, more practical qualification focused purely on the delivery of training. The Education & Training (AET) is a more comprehensive theory-based teaching qualification. If you want to deliver Highfield-accredited courses, we recommend checking which specific qualification your awarding body requires, as many accept both.
3. Do I need to be a teacher already to take this? No. This is a "train-the-trainer" course designed for beginners. It provides you with the basic tools to plan a session, engage an audience, and ensure your learners have actually understood the material.
4. What subjects will I be qualified to teach? This qualification teaches you how to teach, but it does not give you the subject knowledge. You will be qualified to teach subjects in which you already hold a high-level qualification (usually Level 3 or 4). For example, if you have Level 4 Food Safety and this teaching qualification, you can teach Food Safety courses.
5. Is the certificate recognized by awarding bodies? Yes. This is a Highfield Level 3 Award in Delivering Training (RQF). It is a regulated qualification recognized by most UK awarding organizations as a valid teaching requirement for trainers.
6. Can I complete this course via Virtual Learning? Yes. Our virtual option is highly interactive. You will work through the theory online and then complete your practical "micro-teach" session via a live video link with one of our expert tutors.
7. Is there a pass guarantee? Yes. We pride ourselves on building the confidence of new trainers. Like all our courses, this is covered by the Hygiene Sue "Pass or Retrain for Free" Guarantee.

"Sue is a fantastic teacher. She makes the finer details of food safety easy to understand." -
