1. Who should take the Level 2 Allergen course? This course is for anyone working in a food environment, including servers, kitchen staff, and retail assistants. It is designed to give frontline employees the knowledge they need to handle allergen requests safely and prevent cross-contamination.
2. Is this course legally required? UK food law requires all food businesses to provide accurate allergen information to customers. While a specific certificate isn't always mandated by name, the Level 2 Award is the industry-standard way to prove your staff have received the necessary training to meet these legal obligations.
3. What will I learn about the "14 Allergens"? You will learn how to identify the 14 major allergens that must be declared by law. The course covers how these allergens affect the body, how to read food labels correctly, and how to communicate safely with customers who have food allergies or intolerances.
4. How does this differ from Level 3 Allergen Management?
-
Level 2 is about awareness and communication for general staff.
-
Level 3 is about system management and policy for supervisors and owners. If your job involves serving food or preparing ingredients, Level 2 is the correct starting point.
5. Is the certificate recognized by the EHO? Yes. This is a Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Allergen Awareness (RQF). It is a regulated, nationally recognized qualification that provides excellent "due diligence" evidence for Environmental Health Officer (EHO) inspections.
6. Can I book this for a large group of staff? Yes. We offer flexible options for teams. You can purchase multiple online licenses for your staff to complete at their own pace, or we can arrange a group training session. Contact theteam@hygienesue.co.uk for team discount rates.
